Blogger Nails Murtha on Haditha
It takes a blogger with a video camera to ask Jack Murtha the questions that the Drive-Bys will not. This is a courtesy of HotAir.com. On Capitol Hill yesterday, the Young America’s Foundation’s Jason Mattera had this exchange with Jack Murtha about the Haditha trial, the Marines.
JASON MATTERA: Congressman Murtha? Jason Mattera, Young America’s Foundation. Now that the murder charges against Lance Corporal Justin Sharratt and Steven Tatum have been dropped in the Haditha incident or are in the process of being dropped, would you like to issue an apology for saying that they “killed innocent civilians in cold blood”?
MURTHA: The trial is still going on.
JASON MATTERA: Justin Sharratt and Steven Tatum, the two men you accused of murdering innocent civilians in cold blood –
MURTHA: The trial is still going on.
JASON MATTERA: No. No, the charges are in the process of being dismissed.
MURTHA: I don’t know what’s going on.
JASON MATTERA: They’re in the process of being dismissed.
MURTHA: Out! Out!
JASON MATTERA: Do you like besmirching our troops, sir? Do you like besmirching our troops, sir?
MURTHA: You been in the service? I enlisted in Korea, and I enlisted in Vietnam.
JASON MATTERA: Sir, you accused them of murdering innocent civilians in cold blood. That’s something that would come from Al Jazeera, not a congressman, sir.
. So Murtha said: “If pulling U.S. troops out of Iraq results in ‘a bloodbath,’ the guilt will rest with the Iraqi people and not with the U.S. Congress, according to Rep. John Murtha (D-Pa.) … ‘Many have threatened that there will be chaos, a bloodbath, when the United States redeploys from Iraq, and this in fact may be the case,’ Murtha said in a speech at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., Monday. ‘If they continue to choose to spill blood, it will not be on the conscience of the United States.
“‘The fact that Rep. Murtha acknowledged that leaving Iraq in chaos would lead to genocide but then says it wouldn’t be our fault is striking,’ Kevin Smith, a spokesman for Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio)…”
So, a post-withdrawal bloodbath would not be Congress’s fault, according to Jack Murtha. These guys want no responsibility for any chaos or sheer hell that they have caused or will cause.

Actually if no one is charged for the Haditha murders it shows the contempt you Americans have for justice and human life.
Because this is America!!! And those troops are over there, killing innocent civilians in cold blood to protect his freedom to say what he wants and not apologize for it. It would be an insult to all the killing our troops are doing for our freedom if he were to apologize. He does them greater honor by refusing to!!!!
Murtha is a crook and a disgrace.
Maybe you should look to the responsibility of American lives if we don’t…..Remember there were no weapons of mass destruction…What about the blood bath then?
Maybe YOU need to take some responsibility for that.
It’s always good to hear from you brave souls on the front line in Iraq. Putting your beliefs into action is very admirable. Your parents must be proud of their soldier. God bless.
John Murtha has no reason to apologize to our troops, because there have been report cases of US troops killing innocent civilians in cold blood.
I think all the republicans in the US owes an apologize to our troops, for voting for Bush and the republican Congress that sent them to Iraq with their lies.
John Murtha is the type of politician who uses his service in Viet Nam to proclaim himself an expert in all things military. I was in Viet Nam and I am ashamed at his behavior! Mr. Murtha believes the truth is what HE says is the truth.
Mattera is an idiot. Why should Murtha explain his actions to a blogger who will give it a right wing spin no matter what he says?
Jack Murtha is the epitome of what is wrong with the Democratic Party and the majority of liberals. They will seize upon any opportunity to attempt to disrespect our country and those who made the choice to serve it. They form opinions without basis of fact or in most cases without experience. Jack Murtha made his “statements” to be a hero to the liberal left and i am sure he is a hero to them. Kinda sad when your Heroes are FAT OLD ALCOHOLIC WINDBAGS isnt it!—–If you wont stand up for our military then stand in front of em!
Murtha is a traitor. And history will remember him as such. He doesn’t support our troops, only HIS reckless liberal agenda.
Murtha should be thrown in jail. I wonder what our soldiers will have to say about the “support the troops” Democrats when they return home?
