AMDs are known to be cheaper than Intel processor. Hence why alot of people buy them, cause you get more bang for you buck. However, a 2.4 Ghz Intel processor is usually underclocked. So its really a 2.5 GHz processor. While a AMD 2.4 GHz processor is actually a 2.2 GHz processor that is overclocked by AMD to a 2.4. So in reallity you arent getting more bang for your buck. But if you are going with an intel processor go with an Core 2 Duo. Since it is fast because it has to paths to the ram instead of the standard one.
They are the two big competing CPU and motherboard manufacturers. Lately, Intel chips have been out performing there AMD counterparts, though AMD is not a bad chip by any means. AMD is typically a little less expensive. Unless you plan on some real CPU intensive stuff (i.e. video editing or heavy gaming, and AMD will probably be fine.
General Dynamics and the separation of its Engineers. K-7 / 478 competion was great though Intel has a broader line of processors for servers I like AMD and their design for speed and today for chipsets ; notebook X3200. Intel went with SLi and has the X58.
Generally speaking, Intel is faster and better, but you’d have to compare the exact models to know for sure which is better.
Don’t fall for that crap. Intel is not “generally” faster.
Think of it as cars, they are just two different brands. Compare the specs of each individual processor.
There is no “better” make.
AMD bought the rights to clone the Intel CPU then improved or changed the design and the the instructions per second race was on. Get the best bang for your buck: choose brand that fills your need.
Different cpu manufacturers. AMD Advanced Mirco Devices. Intel is intel. They are the major manufactures of cpu chips. Intel is #1 AMD is #2.
