if it is a recall toyota should fix it for free.

it’s the gas pedal sticking to the floor mat causing deadly accidents.
Take the car to a Toyota dealer and they’ll fix it no charge.

A family of four were in a violent crash when their vehicle floored itself and could not be stopped even when using the brakes. All four were instantly killed. Toyota claims it is the gas peddle sticking…but MANY are not so sure. Toyota has now begun using electronic accelerators in place of the standard peddle to cheapen it up. This means the accelerator, although pushed by your foot, is actually run with a computer chip inside the engine. If the computer chip fails, and sends a signal to the engine to FLOOR IT. There will be no stopping the car–not even with the brakes. Also, the camry transmissions are now electronic as well. I am sure your transmission is clunky now like them all because again a cheesy computer chip sends commands to the transmission to tell it when to up shift or down shift. That’s why so many are complaining about how poorly they shift especially around town in stop and go traffic. The steering, I believe is also now cheap electronic, at least on the Corolla which can not be controlled over 55 mph according to hundreds of consumers in Edmund’s.com car review blogs. If I were you I would sell it. Toyota will not acknowledge problems with its cars until someone is killed. This has always been their way, but they are worse now. Good luck..and if your Mother’s car accelerates out of control to 100 mph..PLEASE TELL HER TO SHIFT IT INTO NEUTRAL..THIS WILL DISENGAGE THE UNCONTROLLABLE ENGINE…Stay safe.

what recall, ive been working for toyota for 8 years now ,the only recalls they have is a relay that can freeze,(ig1 relay, free to replace)a new recall on a short oil hose(free to fix) and the v6 Tran’s had(had not anymore)probems.after that nothing,,by the way every new car has recalls, not just camrys and not just toyota ,,

The major publicized recall is to replace the existing gas pedals with a newer design, and this has been used to effectively distract people from a potentially bigger problem involving the software used for the electronic throttle control, in which there is no way to override the computer if it goes haywire and decides to hold the throttle wide open. How do you fix it? Drive to your nearest Ford dealer and trade it in for Motor Trend’s Car of the Year, the Fusion.

I first heard about the recall late this summer on the radio. As an owner of an ’09 Camry, it made me a little uneasy. So, I called the dealership that sold me the car and they told me just to make sure that my drivers side floor mat was held down securely by the hook on the floorboard because it could become lodged underneath the gas pedal and cause an accident. The lady on the phone made it seem like no big deal. Then, less than a month ago, I get a letter in the mail telling me to totally remove my floormat and also gave me instructions on what to do incase my gas pedal becomes jammed. They also said in the letter that in early 2010, they will start replacing the gas pedals in the models affected and install an engine override function that would totally kill the engine if sudden acceleration ever occured. If I were your mom, I would call the dealership and ask to speak to someone that could give her any information on the recall and what to do in case anything goes wrong. If you want to hear what happened that cause the whole recall, go to Youtube and look up “911 call in Lexus crash”. Scared the crap outta me!!!
