As a candidate for President, Barack Obama repeatedly said that he would remove all occupation troops from Iraq by next July (18 months into his presidency). He has flip-flopped and apparently intends to keep some troops in Iraq even after his term expires in Janurary 2013 (if he keeps going the way he is right now, he will have virtually no chance of winning a 2nd term).
Would anybody (other than the brainwashed Obama cultists) really be surprised if the Occupation of Iraq continues a year from now?
However, it now appears that Obama’s Vietnam (Afghanistan) is a bigger problem for the Liar-in-Chief. Nonetheless, I don’t think things are looking too good for Obama’s party (particularly their pro-war members, which represent most of the party, including Speaker Nancy Pelosi) in the 2010 elections if the War on Iraq is still ongoing at that point in time. I personally look forward to the day when Bush’s 3rd Term leaves office and is unable to cause any more harm to this country and to innocent people in the Middle East.
Try listening to Obama himself, instead of obvious lies.
Obama said that he wanted to leave Iraq within 16 months of his gaining office, but that he would extend that time if the commanders on the ground requested it for safety. The commanders on the ground requested 19 months, and that is what Obama gave.
Based on certain deadlines set by the Bush Adminstration near the end of his term and Obama’s committments during the campaign…
Troops had to leave the cities by June 2009. They were to remain on base, with the capability of reinforcing Iraqi forces IF REQUESTED. The troops did this a day early, actually. They have yet to be called into battle by Iraqi forces since that day.
The Obama Adminstration made a contract with the sovereign Iraqi government to get all fighting troops off the bases by August of 2010. 30,000 to 50,000 troops would be left behind as advisers and trainers, but not as combat. All other troops would have to leave.
By December 2011, again as part of that contract with the sovereign Iraqi government, ALL US troops must be out of Iraq.
This isn’t Obama’s choice anymore. It is the Iraqi government’s; and they have already made the necessary contracts to force us out whether we want to go or not. Which, quite obviously, we do.
I doubt it because the Iraqi government will want some US troops for several more years to come.
we are already out all we do now is sit on the embacy and whatch iraq crumble to the hands of the terrorist bc the fucking liberals like Obama wouldnt let us fight to win and kill the fucking enemy
(besides the iraqis wanted us out by 2011 thats the agreement the had with wimp ass bush)
All the other country’s left because they realized how stupid and illegal this war is. Peace.
the withdrawl from iraq is going as fast as it can, however unseen events can/have delayed it. then again im sure that even the top general in iraq cant even give a guestimate of how long it will take to pull out. we have A LOT of shit there.
Considering that my husband is going to be there until November 2010 and other troops are going to be there until Jan 2011, doubt that it will be over by July 2010.
Why do you mean America alone. I sent 15 men in Iraq three years to help restore law and order.
-President of Knightia.
We’re not fighting a “War on Iraq.”
We’re fighting a “Global War on Terror.”
We’re in Iraq now (and have been for years), trying to rebuild the country. The terrorists simply find it a desirable battlefield.
Don’t worry about what President Obama lies about… try and find something he’s telling the truth about. This is much more challenging.
