Carbuncles usually must drain before they will heal. This most often occurs on its own in less than 2 weeks. Placing a warm moist cloth on the carbuncle helps it to drain, which speeds healing. Gently soak the area with a warm, moist cloth several times each day. Never squeeze a boil or attempt to cut it open at home because this can spread the infection and make it worse.

Treatment is needed if the carbuncle lasts longer than 2 weeks, returns frequently, is located on the spine or the middle of the face, or occurs along with a fever or other symptoms. Treatment helps reduce complications related to an infection. A doctor may prescribe antibacterial soaps and antibiotics applied to the skin or taken by mouth. Deep or large lesions may need to be drained by a health professional.

Proper hygiene is very important to prevent the spread of infection. Always wash your hands very well after touching a carbuncle. Do not re-use or share washcloths or towels — this can cause the infection to spread. Clothing, washcloths, towels, and sheets or other items that contact infected areas should be washed in very hot (preferably boiling) water. Bandages should be changed frequently and thrown away in a bag that can be tightly closed.

    oh no! you poor thing!
I would go to a dermatologist or even just a place that does professional facials and ask if they can extract the puss. that way, at least it’s not big and bumpy, but flat and you can hide it with make up.
good luck. and don’t let that bring you down. after a few drinks you won’t even remember you have it!

Please listen to me I have been dealing with this issue for years now due to my MRSA infection. Carbuncles are so ugly and painful and annoying. Please order a jar of Manuka Honey from New Zealand right now! Overnight shipping! Then buy some Tea Tree Oil at a health store or even Target sells it. First you’re gonna wash your face with almost hot water in the shower for a while would be great. Then use the Tea Tree Oil like an antiseptic. Let dry naturally it has a strong odor but it works . Then, apply Manuka honey right onto the spot. Both will penetrate the skin and go into the carbuncle disinfect (tea tree) and draw it out and heal it faster (Manuka Honey). Do this several times a day if you can. The more, the faster it will heal. Overnight, just make sure you use your honey (not regular honey this is a special kind of honey only found in New Zealand). Do not touch the spot no matter how much you want to pick at it or squeeze it !!! Do this right away. I do this every time I think I’m having an outbreak and it has literally saved my life a couple of times when the infection got into my bloodstream. My scars even went away and they were very dark scars almost black like flesh eating bacteria so I know this stuff works . You don’t have what I had so you should do even better and heal faster than I do.

Happy Birthday and God Bless You,

Remember to smile for the pictures no matter what you can always retouch photos.
