Does the term Cult of Personality apply?

“A cult of personality or personality cult arises when a country’s leader uses mass media to create a heroic public image through unquestioning flattery and praise. Cults of personality are often found in dictatorships.
A cult of personality is similar to general hero worship except that it is created specifically for political leaders. ” Wikipedia

    Unfortunately, it does apply.

The really strange part is Obama has the same personality disorder as Hitler. The question is why does the DSM IV listed personality disorder attract so many followers?

  2. McCain / Palin '08 says

Yes, Obama fits that description to a T.

  3. Hung H says

    Of course.

The coronation video this evening was proof positive.

  4. Steely McBeam says

    Yep, thats Obama

  5. parallox says

I hope it doesn’t. I think some of the bias is a bit overblown, but the majority of networks do seem to favor Obama slightly.

  6. Killer Queen says

Of course it does but you will see all these silly answers from people who still refuse to believe it. If he gets elected, we will have to all stay strong and not blame the ones who voted him in. That will split our nation and we will need to unify if we want to get our gov’t back in the hands of the people. They are well-intentioned. They really believe they are voting for the good of the country. What a shock they will have!

Yes i think you are correct.

If it walks like a duck, looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, it’s probably a duck – Joe Biden

  9. Raising the Barr says

It partially applies because there is a segment of the population that think you’re insane for not voting Obama, but I think most Americans are smarter than that.

  10. Beneath the Blue Sky says

Perhaps. But both “sides” in this could have come out with a clean, positive force, but the RNC didn’t push that, nor did McCain. They’ve focused on picking some random woman who alienated a lot of people (or, in some cases, did the opposite – created another cult of personality). Everything has been so negative on the repub side, it just makes the dem side look even better. I think that’s part of what caused it.

It would seem to apply to Obama. Why? Who knows. For many it easy to understand [those waiting in line for a free hand out] but for others its really hard to understand. You would think a well educated person would realize when they are being handed a line of bull shit. When Obama one thing is for sure, he speaks well and comes across well but his words are universally absent of substance. He is naive and childish in is ideas…………wake up and smell the coffee Obama cool aid drinkers…………

    Abso-f*****g-lutely

  13. Requiem of the Dream says

This is actually my largest concern. The fanatical mantra. The blind eye of the third estate. Not so much his overblown campaign promises. Most candidates do that to some extent. Not the liberal idealism, I didn’t think “WTF!” while the either Clinton was running. Heck, Biden has diaherra of the mouth–but he’s truly the just a regularJoe of liberal politicians.
