A friend of mine died from a heart attack, and he also had an enlarged heart. He was having problems with his wife at the time, and some people think she is to blame for his death. The coroner said that he was under a lot of stress, and thats why his heart was enlarged. Is he talking about bodily stress (the blocked arteries, drinking, not exercising, stuff like that) or could the stress he was under from his relationship be the cause?
I agree its not fair to blame her, but other people are, and Im just trying to figure out what the probable cause is.

High blood pressure over prolonged periods (years) can cause LVH (left ventricular hypertrophy) which is enlarging of a portion of the heart. Stress may cause high BP.
However, it is not fair to blame this man’s wife!
Constant stress raises blood pressure. If high blood pressure goes untreated for long period of time it will lead to enlarged heart. But if problem with wife was not long term I doubt it would be the source. I would guess it was a combination of things such as diet, stress, etc.
Maybe.
Was he overweight? That can definitely cause an enlarged heart.
Hypertension takes years to have that effect.
Yes you can relate your friends hypertrophy of the heart with his personal life.
But his situation was purely pathological.
Stress in some ways is good for everyone. It helps us pruse goals…and succeed. Excessive Stress, although, can also cause an enlarged heart by physical and emotional stress.
