The article goes on to describe how white democrats vote for their candidate based on race and this may be detrimental to Obama because these voters may vote republican. However, the article does not go into any detail how blacks vote 93% for Obama in the dem primary as opposed to a white candidate.
Do you consider this one-sided reporting by a mainstream online news agency?
search “role of race in election” article in Yahoo news

didn’t know that
Yahoo is very biased, take anything they say with a grain of salt.
Good Catch BTW.
I would have to agre with you.
I feel the same way and its a shame.
Who Runs Yahoo White’s Black’s or Free Press?
Vote obama all the way
Obama/Biden08
Glad to see that blacks don’t do that.
LMFAO!
Looks like Obama is injecting race into it again. That is one of Saul Alinsky’s five points of Socialist control. Obama has hit ALL FIVE!
i find the article offensive to whites.
I read the article. It actually did mention that more blacks will vote for Obama because he is black, but this increase is lower than the decreased votes he will get also because he is black.
I understand why some people are insulted by the article. The truth can hurt.
most blacks will vote obama and most white will vote mccain, is this really news
ever hear of walking a mile in someone elses shoes?
African Americans make up for about 12% of the total population in the US. Lets for a moment persume that you are Black, you know that you are in a severe minority to be able to see a dream fulfiled in Obama getting elected. Thats why you see a disparity in who African americans are voting for.
Conversly white democrats voting based on race in only voting for white candidates shows a bigotry (im not talking about those people who are voting on issues.. but race like this article shows)
you can see the difference here i hope otherwise i got nothing for you
It has been this way for two years. Interviewing white people in West Virgina about voting against Obama. I have never seen a exit poll of black people being asked if they voted for him because he is black. have you?
Black have always voted for Democrat and they were always white
As a white person supporting Obama race is not a factor
He will move this country forward
The white versus black issue IS alive and well ….all one has to do is look to states during the primaries. certain people in certain states still live in the 18th century….thank goodness this is a 50 state race
lol
It’s historically true. Democrats have Always been the racist party. of course I am not saying all of them just a select few that are still being raised that way..and I’m sure there is an equal amount of republicans that do the same.
Racism isn’t completely eradicated and most likely will never be. But the advances have been extreme in such a short period of time.
Until All the races of America stop looking at the past and focus on the future..we will never be Truly an America.
I do not know that I agree with that. I know of nobody that is not voting for Obama because of race. I know more people that are voting for him as a race factor however. He is an outstanding speaker but I do not care for a lot of what he has planned (such as making my taxes increase) and some of the bills in congress he has sponsored.
gosh i am so glad someone else has a problem with something like that. White people are always the target of racism when half the time we aren’t nearly as racist as others. its a bunch of bull
from your article: Lots of Republicans harbor prejudices, too, but the survey found they weren’t voting against Obama because of his race. Most Republicans wouldn’t vote for any Democrat for president — white, black or brown.
So one must conclude that if Obama loses because of racism, it is racism in his own party!
You failed to mention the even larger groups of republicans who have negative views of people based on race. I would imagine there are fewer racists among Democrats than Republicans, however there is ignorance among both parties and some Democrats will probably vote Republican. I have heard some Republicans say they will vote Democrat because they either don’t like McCain or Palin, Guess we will have to wait and see.
I don’t see what the big deal is. The article fails to assess the racial attitudes of blacks, Hispanics, Native Americans, west Asians or east Asians – toward whites or each other. It therefore compresses its assessment of racism to a dubious survey that required participants to make broad, sweeping generalizations about people.
Racism will never end until we stop making broad, sweeping generalizations about people.
Some whites are racist. Some blacks are racist.
Most are not.
Some have simply never spent much time with people of another race – due to geographical and cultural separation – and don’t know what to think or how to act.
As for voting based on race… can you blame blacks (and a great deal of unsung whites) for backing Obama because he’s the first black candidate? No. And can you blame conservatives for backing McCain – whose moderate views seem extremely conservative when compared to liberal Obama? No.
In conclusion… this article licks old wounds without breaking the slightest bit of new ground on race relations in the USA. Boo.
